Why did you pursue a degree in computer science?

I was always interested in computers and would spend hours during school breaks on my PC learning to code.

Why did you choose to study at UIndy?

When I graduated from high school, my elder brother was studying here, and he recommended that I come to UIndy for my bachelor’s.

What is one of your favorite memories from your time at UIndy?

One of my most cherished memories at UIndy is the capstone class. It was a highlight of my academic journey, where I not only honed my teamwork skills by collaboratively working on a project but also significantly improved my presentation abilities. This experience was a practical insight into real-world project management and communication, making it both challenging and rewarding.

Are there any faculty or staff members who have significantly impacted your time at UIndy? If so, who are they and how did they influence you?

Yes, several faculty and staff members at UIndy have significantly influenced my time here.

Dr. Paul Talaga, in particular, has been instrumental in my academic and professional development. He not only guided me in my studies but also played a crucial role in my job search, offering invaluable advice on resume improvement and interview preparation.

Additionally, my experience working with the Event Services staff, especially Jenny Randol and Jeffrey Barnes, was very fulfilling. They created a welcoming and supportive work environment, which made me feel at home and contributed greatly to my positive experience at UIndy.

Which UIndy resources have helped you succeed or pursue new opportunities?

The Stephen F. Fry Professional Edge Center helped me improve my resume and prepare for interviews.

The Office of Academic Advising helped me stay on track for graduation and helped me with the paperwork for my internship credit.

What are your plans after graduation?

I am planning to seek employment in the world of computer science.

How did your degree program prepare you for your next steps?

My degree program equipped me with practical experience and essential skills for the real world. The capstone class, in particular, enhanced my teamwork abilities and professional acumen, especially in understanding and applying product life cycles.

What advice would you give to incoming freshmen?

Plan your university journey by setting clear goals. Break down your main objective into half-yearly and yearly milestones. Most importantly, celebrate each accomplishment along the way to stay motivated and acknowledge your progress.
