Hayley Good ’15 (Communications) Combines Passions for Travel and Public Relations at L’Oreal

630

Travel has always been a part of Good’s DNA, starting with family vacations and a trip to Europe in high school. A communication major and Spanish minor, Good developed valuable skills at Top Dog Communication, the University of Indianapolis’ student-run public relations agency, where she forged faculty connections and built her professional network. She also participated in the Ambassador Program with the Office of Admissions, the Student-Athlete Advisory Council and captained the Greyhounds swim team.

It wouldn’t be long before Good took her impressive skill set overseas for travel opportunities.

“I love seeing different cultures and the way other people live. I feel like sometimes we get so wrapped up in our own cultures that we don’t think to look elsewhere,” Good explained.

Good fell in love with Ireland during a UIndy spring term trip to Dublin in 2012, and she would eventually return to work and pursue a master’s degree there.

After graduating from UIndy in 2015, Good moved back home to her native Los Angeles and took a job at EMC Bowery, an entertainment public relations firm, where she worked with celebrities like Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys and Kristin Cavallari from Laguna Beach. But she still had a yearning to gain international work experience.

Through a work visa program, Good moved to Ireland and found work in events marketing and as a location coordinator for Global Experiences, an organization that arranges international internships for students.

“My undergrad education at UIndy absolutely prepared me for my career. Every interview I have ever been in has asked me about Top Dog Communication and my experience there,” Good said.

Good decided to make Dublin the backdrop to continue her education. In 2017, she earned her master’s degree in public relations and strategic communication from Dublin City University. She now works as the public relations and events assistant for the Professional Products Division at L’Oreal’s Dublin office.

“My ultimate career goal is to be successful at whatever I’m doing. I love public relations and I hope to always be working in the communications field in some capacity,” Good said.
