565

Congratulations to the University of Indianapolis Class of 2024! We asked our newest alumni to share their UIndy experience and their post-graduation plans. Meet Paisley McFarland, who recently received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a concentration in clinical & counseling

Why did you pursue psychology?

When I became a mom, I realized that I wanted to help children feel as heard and valued as I want my children to feel. I felt the best way to do that was ensure they receive adequate mental health services.

Why did you choose to study at UIndy?

My family was moving, so I needed to transfer to a school closer to where we would be living. I heard UIndy had a good psychology program, so I visited, applied, and the rest is history!

Are you a part of any extracurriculars (RSOs, societies, student leadership, teams, volunteerism, etc.) on or off campus? If so, what are they and what is your role?

I am a respite provider through Easter Seals Crossroads.

Have you received any honors or awards (from UIndy or from outside organizations)? If so, please tell us about them!

I have been on the Dean’s List or honor roll every semester I have attended UIndy.

How have UIndy’s resources helped you to succeed and pursue new opportunities?

The ProEdge Center was invaluable to my graduate school and career journey.

What are your plans after graduation?

I will be starting a PhD program in school psychology.

What is one of your favorite memories from your time at UIndy?

I don’t really have a specific memory, but I will remember all of my time here very fondly.

What advice would you give to incoming students?

Make use of the resources available to you!
