December Graduate Profile: Olivia Brimmage ‘23 (Marketing)

2K

Leading up to December Commencement, we’re asking some of our graduates to tell us about their experience as Greyhounds and where their journey will lead them next. Meet December 2023 graduate and student-athlete Olivia Brimmage, who will receive her Bachelor of Science in Marketing later this week!

Why did you pursue a degree in marketing?

I have always loved being a creative thinker! I went into the School of Business not knowing exactly what I wanted to pursue. I took one marketing class and felt as if this career was the perfect combination of all the things that inspire me!

Are you a part of any extracurriculars (RSOs, societies, student leadership, teams, volunteerism, etc.) on or off campus? If so, what are they and what is your role?

I was a part of the Student Business Leadership Academy for all three years of school. I was an athlete on the track team as well. I was also the School of Business Marketing Manager where I was able to be involved with a lot of the School of Business clubs.

Why did you choose to study at UIndy?

I chose UIndy because of all the opportunities they provided for me. From the Stephen F. Fry Professional Edge Center to the School of Business faculty, UIndy has provided me with so many cool opportunities to advance my career. Being so close to Indianapolis was also a huge plus!

Are there any faculty or staff members who have significantly impacted your time at UIndy? If so, who are they and how did they influence you?

I can honestly say that every professor I have had at UIndy has done so much for me. In relation to marketing, Professor Emily Heck really made me realize I was pursuing something I was truly passionate about.

What is one of your favorite memories from your time at UIndy?

My favorite memory of UIndy was placing second with my 4X1 team at conference!

What are your plans after graduation?

I have just started the application process so the opportunities are endless! I am currently getting my real estate license and would love to one day flip houses and sell them!

How did your degree program prepare you for your next steps?

My degree gave me so much knowledge in the world of marketing. No matter what I end up doing, having my marketing background will give me an upper hand in what I take on!

What advice would you give to incoming freshmen?

It is so important to make as many connections as possible during your time in college. Take advantage of every second and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there!
